I-TRIZ provides a powerful systematical approach for students to approach a problem with regard to their field of specialty. I-TRIZ education can be very useful part of students’ program of study and can help them find better solutions to unfamiliar problems.

Major market environment changes have driven the need for more powerful innovative problem solving methods and yet, educational institutions have not spent enough time educating students on I-TRIZ methods that can solve these more complex problems. During the last twenty years, industrial technologists, engineers, planners and executive managers have increasingly used I-TRIZ, but its utilization should not end with these professionals. By learning I-TRIZ earlier during their education, they will be able to integrate and utilize their skills in operations, maintenance and management.

I-TRIZ teachings will provide students with ideal vision, functions, inventive principles and resources. In addition, it will allow them to brainstorm better ideas for a more ideal system.

During the program, students will be learning the following:

1. Analyze the existing situation and define the problem and objectives.

2. Formulate a functional model for the situation.

3. Develop suggested ideas for solutions to useful and harmful functions and their contradictions by using inventive principles, local resources and their derivatives.

4. Integrate ideas into concepts for evaluation.

5. Evaluate concepts and solve any subsequent problems that exist.

By providing students a systematic procedure for solving inventive problems quickly and finding ideal (or near ideal) solutions, I-TRIZ increases creativity and enlarges the repertoire of thought patterns.

Merit schools have adopted the I-TRIZ  program to be a valuable tool for their students, giving them the advantage of integrating the systematic innovation process into solving real life problems.

Kent State University's School of Technology deployed the program to create an infrastructure for innovation that will equip Ohio businesses to invent on demand, incorporate value ads, solve critical challenges, get ideas to market, and leap frog the competition.
